CHESAI Practitioner Sabbaticants

One of the aims of the CHESAI group is to create spaces for critical engagements between researchers and practitioners. These are some of the practitioners that form part of the CHESAI activities:

  • Mr Wezile Tshali: a manager from the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa - Department of Health. Wezile spent time with CHESAI as a Practitioner Sabbaticant in 2014 – and brought a particular focus in policy analysis of the existing policy on the establishment and functions of community governance structures.
  • Ms Thoko Maboe: a district manager from the Gauteng Province of South Africa - Department of Health. Thoko spent time with CHESAI as a Practitioner Sabbaticant in 2014 – and was particularly interested in the integration of CHWs in her area, and wanted to explore the functional integration of different actors in line with PHC reengineering requirements to eliminate duplication.
  • Ms Annie van Rensberg: Deputy Director: Comprehensive Health Programmes, Southern Western Sub-structure. Metro District health System, Western Cape province. Annie spent time with CHESAI as a Practitioner Sabbaticant in 2015.
  • Mr Moeketsi Modisenyane: Director: International Health Liaison – National Department of Health. Moeketsi spent time with CHESAI as a Practitioner Sabbaticant in 2015.
  • Mr Bakang Oliphant: Senior Manager: Strategic Management - Free State Department of Health. Bakang spent time with CHESAI as a Practitioner Sabbaticant in 2015.
  • Mr Thulani Masilela: Outcome Facilitator – Department of Monitoring and Evaluation, The Presidency. Thulani spent time with CHESAI as a Practitioner Sabbaticant in 2015.

We also work closely with practitioner colleagues in the Western Cape Department of Health and City of Cape Town Health Department.
